NEW DELHI: On 6th October Indialogue Foundation hosted students of Turkish Programme, Jamia Millia Islamia. The event started with documentary movie titled “Flovors of Turkey” produced by Discovery Channel. Dr. Mohsin Ali the Coordinator of Turkish Programme, JMI presented a paper titled “Why Turkish Language?” giving highlight on Language from Indian perspective. Paper gave detailed information about global geographic and political aspect of language. And also spoke about Indo-Turkish economic, cultural and political relations. In fact on same day the President of India Pranab Mukherjee is in Turkey for official visit which made the day significant.
Mr. Turgay Kumru, Instructor of Turkish Language made a presentation about Yunur Emre Institute and Government Scholarships. Yunus Emre Institute is a government agency for promotion of Turkish Culture and Language in abroad. It has set up more than 25 Cultural Centers all over the world and has plan in setting up center in New Delhi as well. The Turkish courses in JMI and JNU are in partnership with Yunus Emre Insitute where lecturers are availed by YEI from Turkey. After presentations the event continued by screening closing ceremony of 11. International Turkish Olympiad. At the end a documentary on Turkish Tea was screened which had revealed how tea embodies so much meaning. Vote of Thanks was given by Mr. Nurdin Kaparov, Director Delhi Office, Indialogue Foundation and the event ended with lunch and interaction. Two Turkish faculties of Turkish Programme Dr. Murat Ates and Dr. Mehmet Ozdemir participated in the event and expressed the importance of cultural engagement in learning language.
