Concept Note: World represents linguistic, cultural and ethnic diversity. This diversity enriches the societies with knowledge. This knowledge is registered, transformed and transmitted through languages and cultures. Preservation and Promotion of them would contribute to enhancing understanding between different societies across the globe. Learning of each other’s language acquires significance in this context. To attain goal of mutual understanding among people of different nations, we have to cherish the diversity and employ it into progressive endeavors.
The inter-governmental dialogue and protocols are signed for the purpose to increase mobility of the people and to promote trade and business. In this direction learning of a foreign language plays an important role. Acquainting with foreign language does not only about learning of language itself but culture also. In other words, it would increase inter-cultural communication between people. We kindly invite to the talk by Prof. J. Prabhakara Rao who is specialist in linguistics, translation studies and foreign language teaching. He is also instrumental in setting up India Centres in abroad and also for several international collaborations. He was catalyst in initiation of Turkish Language Course at University of Hyderabad which has started in second semester of 2012-13 academic year with 15 students.
