Indialogue Kolkata Office organized Annual Interfaith Iftar Dinner Program

On 29th June 2016 Indialogue Foundation Kolkata organised an annual Iftar interfaith dinner program themed “The Role of Religions in Countering Violence and Extremism”. Over 60 people from different walks of life were invited to participate in this event. The list of invitees included Management Officer, Consulate General of the United States (Kolkata), Cory D. Wilcox; famous pianist Jennifer Heemstra; Joeeta Basu from St. Xaviers College and School; Satnam Singh Ahluwalia from World Detective Association (WAD); Swami Shuddhidananda from the Ramakrishna Mission; a prominent dialogue practitioner O.P Shah and others.

The program began with a welcome speech by the director of Indialogue Foundation Kolkata which was followed by a video on peaceful coexistence. The participants in the event were deeply touched by the message given in the video.

After a short break the program continued with guest speakers expressing their thoughts on the role of religions in countering violence and extremism. A moment of silence was also observed for the victims of the terrorist attack on Istanbul’s Ataturk international airport. The event came to an end with the director of Indialogue Foundation Kolkata delivering a vote of thanks and distributing presents to the distinguished guest speakers.
